Emirates Building Systems Wins Major Steel Contract for Landmark Cultural Complex in Oman

Emirates Building Systems (EBS), a subsidiary of Dubai Investments, has secured a major contract to supply and deliver a full structural steel package covering 50,000 square metres for the Sayyid Tarik Bin Taimur Cultural Complex in Oman.

The Sayyid Tarik Bin Taimur Cultural Complex is among Oman’s most significant upcoming cultural developments and is designed to serve as a world-class destination for arts, heritage, and public engagement. The landmark project will house the National Theatre, National Library, National Archives, and a range of cultural and community-focused facilities within an architecturally ambitious masterplan.

Under the contract, EBS will deliver the complete structural steel works for the complex, including detailed engineering, specialised fabrication, on-site erection, and the application of advanced fire-proofing systems. The scope includes complex long-span steel structures tailored for theatre halls, expansive public atria, and culturally significant spaces requiring high levels of precision, safety compliance, and structural durability.

Commenting on the award, Joseph Chidiac, General Manager of Emirates Building Systems, said the project holds national importance for Oman. He noted that EBS is honoured to contribute to a cultural landmark that will help shape the Sultanate’s cultural landscape for generations, adding that the contract reflects the company’s proven ability to deliver technically advanced steel structures to the highest global standards.

The project’s main contractor, Saif Al Harasi-Sembol Construction JV (SAH–SML), expressed strong confidence in EBS’s technical expertise and its long-standing experience in executing complex, multi-disciplinary steel projects.

EBS has an established track record in Oman, having supplied and erected structural steel for major national developments such as the Duqm Refinery, the Duqm Integrated Power and Water Plant, and several key facilities within the Port of Duqm. The company has also contributed to major commercial projects including the Muscat City Centre expansion and Qurum City Centre, alongside numerous industrial developments across the Sultanate.

Currently, EBS is executing steel supply and installation works for multiple buildings at Oman’s first Calcined Petroleum Coke facility in Sohar. A wholly owned subsidiary of Dubai Investments, EBS is recognised as one of the Middle East’s leading manufacturers of steel structures.
