Nobu opens third Dubai restaurant at One Za’beel with star-studded launch
Celebrity chef Nobu Matsuhisa, widely known as the “Sultan of Sushi,” has officially opened his third restaurant in Dubai, this time at the iconic One Za’beel. The launch night was a glamorous affair, drawing an international guest list that included Hollywood star Lindsay Lohan, Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez, and prominent figures from the regional fashion and lifestyle scene.
Reality TV star and entrepreneur Farhana Bodi made a striking appearance on the red carpet, embracing the evening’s “Tokyo Glam” theme. She wore a statement pearl choker from her Fayore collection, paired with a chocolate-brown velvet dress. Sharing her experience, Bodi described the launch as “a beautiful evening celebrating the opening of Nobu at One&Only Zabeel,” adding that the atmosphere, glamour, and signature Nobu dishes made it “a night of pure elegance, fun, and unforgettable moments.”
The opening follows an exclusive interview with Chef Nobu conducted by Manjusha Radhakrishnan, Entertainment, Lifestyle, and Sport Editor of Gulf News, for The Hustle podcast. Filmed at the Dubai Waterfront in the Deira fish market, the conversation offered rare insight into the chef’s journey, from sleeping on restaurant floors in his early years to becoming one of the most influential culinary figures in the world.
Fresh from catering the 83rd Golden Globe Awards, where he served his famed black miso cod and lobster salad with spicy lemon dressing to Hollywood’s elite, Chef Nobu reflected on his philosophy of expansion. “I don’t choose destinations; destinations choose me,” he said, explaining his careful, research-driven approach to opening new restaurants.
The new Nobu restaurant is located at The Link at One Za’beel, the world’s longest cantilever structure, dramatically suspended between the hotel’s twin towers. The architectural landmark adds to the restaurant’s destination appeal, offering diners not just cuisine but a one-of-a-kind setting.
This marks Nobu’s third presence in Dubai, joining the long-established Nobu at Atlantis The Palm and the seaside Nobu By The Beach at Atlantis The Royal. “I like to take it step by step,” Chef Nobu explained. “We open one restaurant in a city and then wait a couple of years.” With One Za’beel, Dubai has once again proven itself to be a city that matches his vision.
