Paris : The French presidency announced on Sunday the formation of a new government led by Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu, following a swift political reshuffle aimed at addressing mounting legislative challenges.
Notably, Roland Lescure, a key ally of President Emmanuel Macron, has been reappointed as Minister of Finance, signaling continuity in economic policy amid fiscal pressures.
According to Reuters, the new cabinet comes at a critical moment as the French government faces significant hurdles in passing the 2026 budget, with deep divisions in parliament threatening legislative gridlock.
Adding to the dramatic political scene, it was highlighted that Lecornu’s previous government lasted only 14 hours, underscoring the current instability and urgency for effective governance.
