Bahrain education ministry reports zero foreign hires since 2019 amid Bahrainisation push
The Ministry of Education Bahrain has confirmed that it has not hired any non-Bahraini employees since 2019, underscoring the country’s continued focus on Bahrainization policies aimed at strengthening national workforce participation.
The ministry stated that all recruitment over the past several years has been limited to Bahraini nationals, aligning with government directives to prioritize local employment across public sector institutions. The move reflects broader national efforts to enhance job opportunities for citizens and reduce reliance on foreign labor.
Officials emphasized that the policy has been implemented without compromising the quality of education services. The ministry noted that it has continued to meet staffing requirements through local hiring, training programs, and internal workforce development initiatives.
At the same time, the ministry addressed concerns regarding budget overruns, explaining that additional spending was necessary to ensure the uninterrupted delivery of essential education services. These include maintaining school operations, supporting teaching staff, upgrading infrastructure, and adapting to evolving academic and administrative needs.
Authorities highlighted that education remains a critical public service, requiring consistent investment to sustain quality standards and accommodate growing demand. The ministry added that financial adjustments were made in response to operational requirements rather than expansion of the workforce through foreign recruitment.
The clarification comes amid ongoing discussions around public sector spending and employment policies in Bahrain, where Bahrainization remains a central pillar of economic and labor strategies.
Officials reiterated that the ministry will continue to balance fiscal responsibility with service delivery, ensuring that students across the kingdom receive uninterrupted access to education while supporting national employment objectives.
