Bahrain Braces for Week-Long Cold Wave as Temperatures Set to Plunge
The Kingdom of Bahrain is preparing for a noticeable temperature drop beginning Monday evening, as a cold wave sweeps into the region driven by a regional low-pressure system. The Meteorology Department at the Ministry of Transport and Communications announced that the system currently centred over northern Iraq and southern Turkey is generating active northerly to north-westerly winds that will contribute to the cooling trend.
Winds are expected to intensify tonight, reaching speeds of up to 50 km/h, which may stir dust in open areas and reduce humidity levels across the Kingdom. The department forecasts maximum temperatures between 26°C and 28°C, while nighttime and early-morning minimums may fall to 17°C–20°C. Due to wind chill, the perceived temperatures could feel even lower.
The cooler conditions are expected to persist throughout the week. On Tuesday, temperatures will remain subdued, with highs around 29°C and lows near 21°C. Moderate to brisk winds will continue, contributing to offshore wave heights of up to 3 feet.
The Meteorology Department urged residents to follow updates from official channels and exercise caution, particularly during marine activities, as sea conditions may become rough during the cold spell.
