Snow Blankets Saudi Arabia’s Trojena Highlands and Tabuk

Rare snowfall has transformed parts of Saudi Arabia, as snow blanketed the Trojena Highlands and areas of Tabuk, turning the Kingdom’s rugged terrain into a striking winter landscape. The unusual weather event drew widespread attention as images and videos circulated showing mountains and valleys covered in white.

Saudi Arabia’s National Centre for Meteorology (NCM) issued warnings of snowfall and severe weather conditions in parts of the Kingdom, urging residents and travellers to exercise caution. The snowfall is the result of an active weather system affecting northern regions, bringing a sharp drop in temperatures alongside rain and strong winds.

The Trojena Highlands, located in the NEOM region and known for their high elevation, are particularly susceptible to colder conditions during winter months, making snowfall more likely than in other parts of the country. Tabuk, which experiences some of the Kingdom’s coldest winters, also witnessed snow in elevated areas.

Such scenes highlight the Kingdom’s diverse climate and geography, offering a rare glimpse of winter conditions in a region more commonly associated with desert heat. Authorities continue to monitor the situation as weather fluctuations persist across northern Saudi Arabia.
