Sharjah Gears Up for 44th International Book Fair with Record Global Participation

Sharjah is all set to welcome the world of literature as it prepares to host the 44th edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF 2025) from November 5 to 16 at the Expo Centre Sharjah. This year’s event, themed “Between You and a Book,” promises to be one of the largest and most diverse editions yet, bringing together voices, cultures, and creativity from across the globe.

The 2025 edition will see participation from 118 countries, with 10 nations joining the fair for the first time, marking a new milestone in Sharjah’s global literary outreach. Over 2,350 publishers and exhibitors are set to participate, representing both Arab and international publishing houses. The fair will feature an impressive line-up of 1,200 events, including panel discussions, book signings, cultural dialogues, and live readings, offering visitors a truly immersive experience.

Workshops continue to be a major highlight, with 750 sessions planned in both Arabic and English. These workshops will cover diverse areas such as creative writing, translation, illustration, storytelling, and publishing trends, providing opportunities for learning and exchange between writers, students, and professionals.

This year, Greece has been announced as the Official Guest of Honor, bringing a strong delegation of 70 participants, including authors, poets, translators, and academics. The Greek pavilion will spotlight the nation’s rich literary heritage alongside modern voices, offering visitors a glimpse into the depth and evolution of Greek literature and culture.

The Sharjah International Book Fair continues to be a beacon for cultural exchange and literacy promotion, strengthening the emirate’s reputation as a global hub for books, knowledge, and creativity. By uniting so many nations and voices, the fair serves as a reminder of Sharjah’s unwavering commitment to the written word and its mission to bridge cultures through literature.

As the countdown begins, anticipation is building among readers, authors, and publishers worldwide. The 44th SIBF promises not only to celebrate the beauty of books but also to reaffirm the power of storytelling in connecting humanity beyond borders.
