Humraaz 2 depends on the right script, confirms producer Ratan Jain

Producer Ratan Jain has confirmed that a sequel to the 2002 thriller Humraaz is being considered but stressed that the project will only move forward if the right script falls into place.

In a January 2026 interview with Bollywood Hungama, Jain revealed that he remains open to making Humraaz 2, provided the story offers age-appropriate and compelling roles for original stars Akshaye Khanna and Bobby Deol. He emphasized that the sequel cannot rely on nostalgia alone and must justify its existence with a strong narrative.

Jain also shared that discussions with the film’s original directors, Abbas–Mustan, are currently ongoing. The filmmaker duo is said to be working on a script, though their return to the director’s chair has not been finalized. According to Jain, their involvement will ultimately depend on whether the final material meets expectations.

Interest in reviving Humraaz has intensified following the career resurgence of its lead actors. Akshaye Khanna received widespread acclaim for his performance as Rehman Dakait in the 2025 hit Dhurandhar, while Bobby Deol’s intense turn in Animal further cemented his successful comeback.

Highlighting the cautious approach behind the sequel, Jain noted that Akshaye Khanna is extremely selective with his projects and would only sign on if he is completely satisfied with the script and character arc.

Meanwhile, original female lead Ameesha Patel had hinted in late 2025 that she was aware of plans for a sequel, though she admitted uncertainty over whether the script had been finalized at that time.

While Humraaz 2 remains in the development stage, Jain’s comments make it clear that the project’s future hinges entirely on finding a script worthy of the original film’s legacy.
