Salman Khan to Star as Galwan Hero Colonel B. Santosh Babu in Patriotic Action Drama

Bollywood megastar Salman Khan is all set to portray the real-life hero Colonel B. Santosh Babu in an upcoming military action drama based on the 2020 Galwan Valley clash, one of the most defining moments in recent Indian military history. The film, directed by Apoorva Lakhia, promises a gripping, emotional, and action-packed retelling of the events that took place during the standoff between Indian and Chinese forces in Ladakh.

Salman Khan will step into the role of Colonel B. Santosh Babu, the commanding officer of the 16 Bihar Regiment, who led Indian troops during the Galwan conflict and was posthumously awarded the Maha Vir Chakra for his bravery. The film aims to capture the spirit of patriotism, courage, and sacrifice that defined the Galwan episode, offering audiences a powerful tribute to India’s armed forces.

Joining Salman in this ambitious project is actress Chitrangda Singh, who plays the female lead. This marks her first on-screen collaboration with Salman Khan, adding fresh chemistry and emotional depth to the narrative. In addition to the leading pair, the cast will feature three younger actors in pivotal supporting roles, likely portraying soldiers who fought alongside Colonel Babu.

The film draws inspiration from the acclaimed book India’s Most Fearless 3 by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh, particularly the Galwan chapter that detailed the intense and tragic confrontation. The filmmakers are aiming for a realistic, respectful, and visually gripping portrayal of the events, balancing high-octane action with the emotional gravity of the true story.

Principal photography is scheduled to begin in July 2025, with the film expected to release in 2026. With Apoorva Lakhia at the helm  known for his work in action and thriller genres and a strong patriotic theme, this project is already generating considerable buzz as one of the most anticipated films rooted in real Indian military history.
