Manama: The Bahrain Film Festival (BFF) returns for its fifth edition, celebrating the powerful theme “Short Films, Great Stories.” Dedicated to short films from across the Arab world, the festival continues to be an immersive meeting point for bold cinematic voices. More than just a showcase, BFF is a vibrant platform where fresh perspectives meet seasoned craftsmanship, sparking dialogue, challenging conventions, and redefining the role of cinema in the region.

Organised by the Bahrain Cinema Club in collaboration with the Ministry of Information, this year’s festival runs from October 30 to November 4, 2025, at Reel Cinemas, Marassi Galleria. The event promises six days of creativity, collaboration, and cultural celebration, as filmmakers, critics, and cinephiles come together to share their love for the art of storytelling.

Under the theme “Short Films, Great Stories,” Festival Director Ammar Zainal highlights the depth and value of short films, describing them as “vessels for powerful and meaningful stories.” The festival aims to amplify these stories by offering a platform where local and regional filmmakers can showcase their ideas, connect with industry professionals, and find inspiration through shared experiences.

The Bahrain Film Festival 2025 features five categories of competition Short Narratives, Short Documentaries, Short Animations, Student Films, and Bahraini Short Films. Each category is designed to highlight a unique dimension of cinematic storytelling, from the imaginative to the deeply human.

In addition to screenings, the festival will host workshops, lectures, and development programs, offering filmmakers an opportunity to learn, network, and grow. From masterclasses led by established directors to interactive sessions on writing, editing, and production, the event seeks to strengthen Bahrain’s position as a creative hub for the Arab world’s next generation of filmmakers.
