Aneet Padda: The New Voice and Face of Modern Indian Cinema

In an industry driven by fresh talent and evolving storytelling, Aneet Padda has emerged as one of the most compelling new voices in Indian cinema. From her humble beginnings in Amritsar to captivating millions on the big screen, her journey is as inspiring as it is impressive.

From Punjab to the Spotlight

Born on 14 October 2002 into a Jatt Sikh family in Amritsar, Aneet was always drawn to the arts. While studying at Spring Dale Senior School, her interests expanded beyond academics to include music and performance. She moved to Delhi to attend Jesus and Mary College, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in political science and English all while building a modeling portfolio that would launch her into the entertainment industry.

Ad Star to Screen Sensation

Aneet's first brush with the spotlight came through advertising. With campaigns for brands like Nescafé, Cadbury, Paytm, and Amazon Prime, she quickly became a familiar face and resonated with a young, digital-savvy audience.

Her film debut came in 2022 with Revathi’s drama Salaam Venky, where she played a small but impactful role as Nandini opposite Vishal Jethwa. Critics called her performance “noteworthy” a rare acknowledgment for a debutant in a minor role.

Breakthrough in Streaming

The turning point in Aneet’s career came with the 2024 Amazon Prime Video series Big Girls Don’t Cry. As Roohi Ahuja, she portrayed a teenager navigating the complexities of friendship and a fractured home life. Her layered performance stood out in the ensemble cast.

Adding to her multidimensional talent, Aneet wrote, composed, and performed the original song “Masoom” for the show, a track that resonated deeply with audiences.

Bollywood Stardom: Saiyaara and Beyond

In 2025, Aneet Padda took center stage in Mohit Suri’s romantic drama Saiyaara, produced by Yash Raj Films. Starring opposite debutant Ahaan Panday, she played Vaani Batra, an aspiring lyricist entangled in a story of love and ambition.

Despite mixed reviews for the film’s writing, critics singled out Aneet for her nuanced portrayal. The Hollywood Reporter praised her for lending “a literary sheen” to the character, elevating what could have been a cliché into something powerful.

Saiyaara went on to gross over ₹5 billion (US$59 million), becoming the second highest-grossing Indian film of the year, and cementing Aneet's status as a rising star.
