How to apply for a Good Conduct Certificate in Bahrain through the national portal
Obtaining a Good Conduct Certificate, also known as a Police Clearance Certificate, is a key requirement in Bahrain for employment, university admissions, immigration processes, and certain licensing applications. The service is available digitally through the Kingdom’s National Portal, making the process faster and more accessible for residents and citizens.
The certificate is issued by the Ministry of Interior’s Criminal Investigation Directorate (CID) and is generally valid for three months from the date of issue.

How to apply online: Applicants must log in to the National Portal using their eKey (Standard or Advanced). Once logged in, they can select the “Request for Good Conduct Certificate” service and enter their Personal Number (CPR), contact details, and the purpose of the request, such as a specific employer or educational institution.
Supporting documents, such as a clear copy of the passport or CPR, may be required. The standard issuance fee is BHD 1, payable online using a debit or credit card. Optional delivery charges apply if the certificate is sent via Bahrain Post.
After submission, applicants can track the status of their request using the reference number provided through the portal’s status enquiry feature.
Important requirements: First-time applicants or individuals who have been outside Bahrain for an extended period may be asked to visit a CID office or police station to register their fingerprints.
Those applying from overseas who previously lived in Bahrain can still submit an online application but may need to provide an official fingerprint card issued in their country of residence. This document must be authenticated by the Bahraini embassy. Applicants are advised to ensure that the name of the requesting entity, such as a company or university, is entered accurately, as it will be printed directly on the certificate.
