$1 billion Dracula Land mega-resort planned near Bucharest, set to open by 2028
A massive, privately funded Dracula-themed entertainment resort valued at approximately $1 billion is set to rise near Bucharest, Romania, positioning itself as one of Europe’s largest and most ambitious leisure destinations.
Known as Dracula Land, the sprawling mega-resort is expected to open between 2027 and 2028, with construction scheduled to begin in September 2026. The project spans an expansive 160 hectares and is designed as a multi-dimensional entertainment complex rather than a standalone theme park.
Theme parks and immersive lands
At the heart of the development will be a 780,000-square-meter theme park featuring more than 40 attractions, including high-thrill roller coasters and immersive dark rides. The park will be divided into six distinct themed lands:
-
Transylvania
-
Dracula’s Castle
-
Victorian London
-
Port of New Orleans
-
The Family Kingdom
-
Moonlit District, serving as the grand entrance area
Each zone is designed to blend gothic storytelling with large-scale, cinematic environments inspired by Bram Stoker’s legendary Dracula mythos.
Hotels, water park, and entertainment venues
Beyond the theme park, Dracula Land will include three themed luxury hotels offering a combined 1,200 rooms, catering to both families and high-end travelers.
Additional amenities planned for the resort include a major water park featuring one of Europe’s largest wave pools, a thermal spa, a professional racing circuit, and a luxury fashion outlet mall. The project will also house a 22,500-seat entertainment arena designed to host international concerts, live shows, and large-scale esports tournaments.
Digital expansion and future tech
In a move that blends physical and digital entertainment, developers have announced plans to create a full digital twin of Dracula Land within the metaverse. Visitors will be able to explore virtual versions of the park, participate in online experiences, and use a native cryptocurrency known as DraculaCoin for select transactions and digital engagement.
Economic impact
The resort aims to attract approximately 3 million visitors annually and is projected to generate over 5,000 jobs, significantly boosting tourism and economic activity in the Bucharest region.
Once completed, Dracula Land is expected to rival Europe’s top destination resorts, combining gothic fantasy, cutting-edge technology, and large-scale entertainment into a single landmark attraction.
