Shaikh Nasser and Shaikh Khalid Welcome Tennis Star Carlos Alcaraz to Bahrain
Tennis superstar and men’s world number one Carlos Alcaraz received a warm welcome in Bahrain during a high-profile visit hosted by senior members of the royal family.
His Majesty King Hamad’s humanitarian work and youth affairs representative and Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, along with SCYS first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, received the Spanish champion during his stay in the Kingdom.
Shaikh Khalid shared moments from the visit on his official social media account, posting photos alongside Alcaraz with the message: “An honour to host you in your second country, Bahrain champion.” The statement reflected the strong sporting ties between Bahrain and international athletes.
During the meeting, Shaikh Nasser and Shaikh Khalid presented Alcaraz with commemorative gifts, including a shirt of Bahrain-owned Spanish football club Córdoba CF, symbolising the Kingdom’s growing footprint in global sports investments.
Alcaraz was also seen at the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) in Sakhir, where he attended the second day of the Formula One Aramco Pre-Season Testing. The visit placed the tennis star at the heart of the motorsport world as Formula One teams fine-tuned preparations for the upcoming season.
While touring the F1 paddock, Alcaraz visited team garages and facilities, meeting some of the sport’s biggest names including fellow Spaniards Fernando Alonso and Carlos Sainz Jr.. His presence added extra excitement to the pre-season testing atmosphere, drawing attention from fans and media alike.
Alcaraz was accompanied by high-ranking officials from the Kingdom throughout his visit, underscoring Bahrain’s commitment to strengthening international sporting relationships and positioning itself as a global hub for major sporting events.
The visit further highlights Bahrain’s growing reputation in global sport from tennis and football investments to Formula One reinforcing the Kingdom’s ambition to connect with elite athletes across disciplines.
