Saudi Arabia forecasts hotter, drier Ramadan 2026 in Mecca and Medina
The Saudi National Centre for Meteorology has issued its preliminary outlook for Ramadan 2026, forecasting a hotter and drier holy month in the cities of Mecca and Medina.
According to the early projections, temperatures are expected to rise up to 1°C above historical averages. Mecca, which typically records an average temperature of 26.8°C during this period, could see slightly higher readings, while Medina may exceed its seasonal norm of 23.1°C.
Rainfall is also anticipated to remain below average. Historical seasonal rainfall stands at around 4.2 mm in Mecca and 4.3 mm in Medina, but precipitation levels during Ramadan 2026 are likely to fall short of these figures.
The National Centre for Meteorology has urged residents and visitors to stay updated through official weather advisories and to take necessary precautions, particularly as both cities witness increased footfall during the holy month.
With millions expected to gather for worship, authorities emphasize the importance of preparedness, hydration, and adherence to official guidance to ensure safety and comfort throughout Ramadan.
