UAE Tops Global Trust Rankings as World’s Most Trusted Government

The United Arab Emirates has been ranked the world’s most trusted government in the Edelman Trust Index 2026, reinforcing its reputation for effective governance, institutional credibility, and public confidence.

The announcement was shared by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who described trust as a long-term national asset built through action rather than words.

In a post on X, Sheikh Mohammed emphasised that trust is earned through consistency and integrity. He noted that credibility, fulfilled commitments, fair laws, and respect for human dignity form the foundation of lasting confidence between governments and societies.

“Trust, once established, becomes a form of national capital that strengthens social cohesion and enables faster progress,” he wrote.

The Edelman Trust Index, published annually by the New York–based communications firm Edelman, is one of the world’s most closely monitored measures of public confidence. It evaluates trust across key institutions, including government, business, media, and non-governmental organisations, based on extensive surveys conducted in dozens of countries.

According to the 2026 findings, the UAE leads globally in public trust in government, reflecting strong performance in governance, transparency, and service delivery. Analysts attribute the result to years of institutional reform, digital transformation, regulatory clarity, and long-term national planning.

Observers also highlight the UAE’s focus on accountability, efficiency, and citizen engagement as central to its governance model one that prioritises outcomes and continuous improvement.

This latest achievement adds to a growing list of international rankings where the UAE has placed among global leaders, particularly in governance quality, competitiveness, quality of life, and future readiness, reinforcing its position as a benchmark for modern government.
