Saudi Arabia warns Iran against further attacks on kingdom and energy sector
Saudi Arabia has warned Iran that continued attacks on the kingdom or its energy infrastructure could prompt a direct retaliatory response, according to a report by Reuters citing four sources familiar with the matter. The message was reportedly delivered to Tehran ahead of a televised speech by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, in which he apologized to neighboring Arab countries for recent Iranian strikes.
During the address, Pezeshkian said he had instructed Iran’s armed forces to halt attacks on regional countries, signaling an attempt to reduce tensions with Gulf neighbors. However, reports indicated that new attacks occurred shortly after the speech, affecting the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and the autonomous region of Iraqi Kurdistan.
The developments have heightened concerns across the Gulf as the conflict continues to expand beyond its initial flashpoints, with regional governments closely monitoring potential threats to energy facilities, shipping routes, and national security infrastructure.
Saudi officials have not publicly detailed the potential scope of any retaliatory measures but signaled that continued attacks targeting the kingdom’s territory or energy sector would not go unanswered.
