Ramadan to fall in cooler winter season, offering shorter fasting hours and pleasant weather
The holy month of Ramadan is expected to fall during the cooler winter season this year, offering more comfortable fasting conditions for residents across the region.
With the month of Shaaban beginning on January 20, astronomers predict that Ramadan will start on February 19, subject to the official moon sighting. Eid Al Fitr is expected to follow between March 20 and March 22, potentially creating a three-day long weekend.
The winter timing is set to bring milder daytime temperatures and cool, pleasant evenings, making fasting easier compared to recent years when Ramadan occurred during peak summer heat. Fasting hours are also expected to be around 30 minutes shorter than last year, further easing the daily routine for worshippers.
Weather experts anticipate calm evenings ideal for Taraweeh prayers and outdoor gatherings, with daytime temperatures gradually warming as the month progresses but remaining largely moderate.
The combination of shorter fasting hours and cooler conditions is expected to contribute to a more peaceful and reflective Ramadan, allowing residents to focus on spiritual observance, family time, and community activities.
