Adverse weather disrupts operations at Dubai airports, flights cancelled and diverted
Operations at Dubai’s two major airports were disrupted early Tuesday after adverse weather conditions affected flight movements across the emirate.
Dubai Airports confirmed that both Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Dubai World Central Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) have been impacted since the early hours, leading to the cancellation of 12 flights and the diversion of 23 inbound services.
“Operations at Dubai International (DXB) and Dubai World Central Al Maktoum International (DWC) have been impacted since early Tuesday morning due to adverse weather conditions, resulting in the cancellation of 12 flights and the diversion of 23 inbound services,” a Dubai Airports spokesperson said in a statement to Gulf News.
The spokesperson added that Dubai Airports is working closely with airlines and service partners to minimize disruption and restore normal operations as quickly as possible. Passengers have been advised to check directly with their airlines for the latest flight updates.
Weather outlook raises caution for travelers.
Weather conditions across the UAE are expected to remain a key factor for travelers in the coming days. According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), the country will experience generally fair to partly cloudy skies from Tuesday through Saturday, accompanied by humid nights and an increased likelihood of fog or mist in coastal and inland areas.
Tuesday’s forecast highlighted the formation of low clouds toward eastern regions, with humidity expected to rise overnight into Wednesday morning. Fog or mist may develop in some coastal and internal areas during the early hours, potentially affecting visibility. Winds are forecast to remain light to moderate, occasionally freshening.
Temperatures are expected to reach between 30°C and 32°C in coastal and inland areas, while mountainous regions will see cooler conditions ranging from 17°C to 22°C. Winds may strengthen at times to speeds of 30–35 km/h, while sea conditions are expected to remain slight in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.
Continued monitoring through the week
From Wednesday to Saturday, similar weather conditions are forecast, with fair to partly cloudy skies and a gradual rise in temperatures as the week progresses. Elevated humidity levels during the night and early morning hours are likely to persist, maintaining the possibility of fog or mist, particularly along coastal areas and islands.
Airlines and airport authorities continue to closely monitor the situation, with travelers advised to stay updated on flight schedules, especially during early morning and late-night periods when visibility may be reduced.
