Oman Announces National Day Holidays for Public and Private Sectors
Muscat: Authorities in the Sultanate of Oman have announced official holidays for employees in both the public and private sectors on the occasion of the country’s 55th National Day.
According to a report from the Oman News Agency (ONA), an order issued by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq grants all employees in government and private establishments Wednesday, November 26, and Thursday, November 27 as official holidays. Regular work will resume on Sunday, November 30.
Oman celebrates its National Day annually on November 20 and 21, commemorating the nation’s progress, unity, and achievements under the leadership of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq. The two-day observance is one of the most significant events in the country’s calendar, marked by patriotic displays, cultural festivities, and illuminated landmarks across the Sultanate.
This year’s National Day holds special significance as Oman continues to advance its modernization and development goals under the framework of Oman Vision 2040, a national strategy focused on economic diversification, innovation, sustainability, and social prosperity.
Under Sultan Haitham’s leadership, the country has witnessed substantial progress in infrastructure, renewable energy, digital transformation, and tourism, reinforcing its position as a stable and forward-looking Gulf nation.
Neighboring countries, including the United Arab Emirates, often join in the celebrations by lighting up key landmarks with the Omani flag and extending messages of goodwill to the people of Oman, reflecting the deep cultural and historical ties between the two nations.
As Oman marks its 55th National Day, the holiday will give citizens and residents an opportunity to celebrate the country’s heritage, achievements, and vision for the future.
