From Mumbai to Dubai: 24 Indian Cyclists Take Part in Dubai Ride 2025

Dubai: Twenty-four cyclists from India embarked on a dream journey to participate in Dubai Ride 2025 on Sunday, November 2, as part of this year’s Dubai Fitness Challenge. The group, hailing from the Ghodbunder Cyclists club in Thane, Maharashtra, includes riders aged 16 to 61, featuring female cyclists and a 59-year-old bypass surgery survivor.

The club, which boasts 1,000 members, had been planning this trip since last year after seeing videos of the Dubai Ride on social media. “After seeing the videos, everyone decided we should participate,” said Dr. Gopal Sabe, one of the club’s administrators, emphasizing the excitement and dedication of the team.

The cyclists expressed their enthusiasm at the Indian Consulate in Dubai, sharing that they were thrilled to ride on the iconic Sheikh Zayed Road and participate in the event launched by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai.

Ahead of the event, the team explored Dubai’s Al Qudra Cycling Track, spending two hours experiencing the city’s dedicated cycling infrastructure. Dr. Gopal said the experience was inspiring: “Back home, you can cycle on almost any street without special restrictions. But we also want dedicated cycling tracks, where cyclists have their own space and can ride safely.” The cyclists plan to return to Al Qudra for another session before flying back to India on Monday.

The participation of these Indian cyclists highlights the growing popularity of cycling and fitness challenges across the region while showcasing Dubai’s world-class infrastructure as a model for safe and accessible urban cycling.
