Meghan and Harry Say They Are ‘Proud’ of Girl Scouts Documentary After Sundance Premiere
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have said they are “proud and privileged” to have worked on the documentary Cookie Queens, following its world premiere at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival in Utah.
Produced through Harry and Meghan’s media company, Archewell Productions, the documentary was created in partnership with Beautiful Stories and AJNA Films. The coming-of-age film follows a group of Girl Scouts as they compete to become top sellers in the cookie business, offering a modern perspective on a long-standing American tradition.
Prince Harry joined Meghan at the festival on Sunday, shortly after returning from London, where he attended proceedings related to his legal case against the publisher of the Daily Mail. The couple were seen on the red carpet engaging with the film’s production team and festival attendees.
Meghan, 44, delivered a speech at Sundance in support of the project, directed by Alysa Nahmias, describing the documentary as a “powerful and meaningful depiction” of girlhood. Speaking at the premiere, she said that while the film may appear light-hearted, it captures the complexity, ambition and leadership potential of young girls.
In a video shared on social media, Meghan said: “My husband and I at Archewell Productions are so proud and privileged to be able to support and uplift Cookie Queens. It is one of the most meaningful depictions of an American tradition, rooted in nostalgia, but reimagined through a modern lens.”
She added that the film highlights the layered experiences of young girls as they prepare to become strong leaders and young women, praising the creative vision behind the project.
According to the Sundance Film Festival programme, Cookie Queens follows “four tenacious girls” navigating an 800-million-dollar industry “in which childhood and ambition collide”.
Speaking to interviewers, Meghan noted that she and director Alysa Nahmias both connected deeply with the project as mothers. In a video posted by Deadline, Meghan said the film was “incredibly special” for them as parents, adding that it is something their daughters will be able to watch and enjoy in the future.
Prince Harry, 41, and Meghan founded Archewell Productions in 2020 and maintain an ongoing partnership with Netflix. The company has produced a number of high-profile projects, including the documentary series Harry and Meghan (2022), Live to Lead (2022), Heart of Invictus (2023), Polo (2024), and Meghan’s lifestyle series With Love, Meghan (2025).
