Kuwait Declares Public Sector Holiday on January 18 for Isra Wal Miraj

Kuwait’s Civil Service Commission has announced a public holiday on Sunday, January 18, 2026, for all ministries, government departments, public authorities, and state institutions to observe Isra Wal Miraj.

The commission confirmed that the holiday applies across the entire public sector, giving employees the opportunity to observe the religious occasion. Official working hours are set to resume on Monday, January 19, 2026.

Isra Wal Miraj, also known as the Night Journey, is a significant event in Islamic tradition that commemorates Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) miraculous journey and ascension.

The announcement is part of Kuwait’s annual holiday calendar, reflecting the government’s commitment to recognising key religious occasions observed throughout the country.
