Kalyani Priyadarshan to make Bollywood debut opposite Ranveer Singh in zombie thriller Pralay

Malayalam actress Kalyani Priyadarshan is set to make her Bollywood debut opposite Ranveer Singh in the upcoming post-apocalyptic zombie action-thriller Pralay, marking a major crossover moment in her career.

Set in a devastated, near-apocalyptic Mumbai, Pralay is envisioned as a large-scale zombie thriller, blending high-octane action with survival drama. The film will be directed by Jai Mehta, son of acclaimed filmmaker Hansal Mehta, who is known for his work on Scam 1992 and Lootere.

The project is especially significant for Ranveer Singh, as it marks his first venture as a producer under his banner, Maa Kasam Films, in collaboration with Applause Entertainment and True Story Films. Filming is expected to begin in April 2026.

Kalyani’s casting comes on the back of her growing national popularity following the massive success of her 2025 Malayalam superhero film Lokah: Chapter 1: Chandra, which positioned her as one of the most promising pan-Indian actors of her generation.

According to industry reports, Alia Bhatt was initially considered for the role. However, scheduling conflicts, including her commitments to Alpha and Love & War, reportedly led the makers to cast Kalyani instead.

Ranveer Singh, meanwhile, is said to be prioritizing Pralay over Don 3, following the record-breaking success of his 2025 film Dhurandhar. The sequel, Dhurandhar Part 2, is slated for release on March 19, 2026.

With its ambitious scale, genre-defying premise, and a fresh leading pairing, Pralay is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated Bollywood projects of 2026, and a bold entry point for Kalyani Priyadarshan into Hindi cinema.
