Roads and Transport Authority opens new four-lane bridge on Al Qudra Road to ease congestion

Dubai has inaugurated a new 600-meter, four-lane bridge at the intersection of Al Qudra Road and the link road connecting Arabian Ranches with Dubai Studio City, marking a major step in the emirate’s ongoing road improvement program led by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).

The newly opened structure is part of a wider Al Qudra Road upgrade project stretching from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road through Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street and Emirates Road, continuing along the full length of Al Qudra Road.

The bridge has substantially improved traffic flow at one of Dubai’s busiest commuter intersections. According to RTA, traffic capacity at the junction has increased by 191 percent, rising from approximately 6,600 vehicles per hour to around 19,200 vehicles per hour.

Motorists are also experiencing noticeably shorter waiting times. Average delays at the intersection have been reduced by more than half, dropping from roughly 113 seconds to 52 seconds.

The broader Al Qudra Road corridor upgrade is designed to reduce travel times by up to 70 percent along this key stretch, easing congestion and improving connectivity between residential and commercial hubs.

The project is expected to benefit nearly 400,000 residents and visitors in surrounding communities, including Motor City, DAMAC Hills, Mudon, and The Sustainable City, in addition to Arabian Ranches and Dubai Studio City.

With Dubai’s population and vehicle ownership continuing to grow, the new bridge forms part of a long-term infrastructure strategy aimed at enhancing mobility, reducing congestion, and supporting sustainable urban expansion across the emirate.
