Bahrain Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka among top global attractions

Bahrain Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka Named One of the World's Top Attractions
Osaka, Japan, August 15, 2025
Bahrain’s national pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka is turning global heads, emerging as one of the most celebrated architectural and cultural highlights of the international event. Titled “Connecting Seas: A Journey Through the Senses,” the pavilion delivers a powerful blend of traditional heritage, sustainable design, and immersive storytelling cementing Bahrain’s presence on the world stage.
Designed by renowned architect Lina Ghotmeh, the pavilion takes its inspiration from the traditional Bahraini dhow, seamlessly integrating with Japanese craftsmanship and environmental sensibilities. It’s constructed from over 3,000 pieces of unengineered wood using joinery techniques, avoiding concrete foundations and enabling complete disassembly and recycling making it one of the Expo’s most sustainable structures.
Inside, the Bahrain Pavilion offers a multisensory journey that immerses visitors in the Kingdom’s maritime legacy, trade history, and coastal culture. Through soundscapes, scents, tactile materials, and curated visual storytelling, guests explore Bahrain’s deep-rooted connections with the sea and its evolving global identity. Collaborations with international creatives such as Sissel Tolaas, Shepherd Studio, Hassan Hujairi, and La Méduse elevate the experience beyond visual architecture.
A culinary highlight awaits at the pavilion’s café, curated by Tala Bashmi, Bahrain’s award-winning chef, who fuses Japanese and Bahraini flavors to reflect cultural exchange through cuisine. The pavilion also features a business showcase area presented by Bahrain’s Economic Development Board and a retail shop offering locally inspired designs and fashion by Lulwa Al Amin.
The recognition of the Bahrain Pavilion as a top attraction aligns with Expo 2025’s central theme: “Designing Future Society for Our Lives.” As nations explore ideas of sustainability, innovation, and cultural identity, Bahrain has delivered a pavilion that resonates with emotional depth and architectural brilliance.
With its elegant design, immersive narrative, and sustainable values, the Bahrain Pavilion doesn’t just stand out it tells a story the world is eager to hear.
