Bahrain Secures Hosting Rights for ITTF World Youth Championships-
The Kingdom of Bahrain will host the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) World Youth Championships next year, following the official handover of the hosting flag at the conclusion of the current championships in Romania.
The flag was received by Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Table Tennis Association (BTTA) and Vice President of the Asian Table Tennis Federation (ATTF), marking the start of preparations and the official countdown to the global sporting event.
Milestone for Bahrain Table Tennis-
Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz described the moment as a significant milestone in the federation’s journey, noting that the handover reflects the confidence placed by the ITTF General Assembly in Bahrain’s ability to host a major international championship.
She added that the decision highlights the strong relationship between Bahrain and the ITTF, particularly as it coincides with the federation’s centenary celebrations, further underscoring the Kingdom’s growing presence in global sport.
Confidence in Hosting Capabilities-
Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz expressed full confidence in Bahrain’s ability to deliver a successful championship and showcase the event to the highest international standards.
She highlighted the continued support extended to the sports sector by Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), President of the General Sports Authority (GSA), and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC). His ongoing commitment, she noted, has played a key role in strengthening Bahrain’s reputation as a trusted host for major sporting events.
Preparations Already Underway-
In advance of the handover, the BTTA held official meetings with the ITTF to discuss Bahrain’s readiness and preparations for the championship. The delegation was led by Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa and included Ali Al Madeh, Vice President of the BTTA, and Jaffar Hadi, Secretary-General of the BTTA.
During the meetings, technical and organisational arrangements were reviewed, and the delegation examined best practices and operational insights gained from managing the current edition of the championship.
Strengthening Bahrain’s Global Sports Profile-
Hosting the ITTF World Youth Championships will further enhance Bahrain’s position on the international sporting map, providing a platform to showcase its organisational capabilities while supporting the development of youth table tennis on a global scale.
