Qatar steps up rain preparedness with full-capacity drainage operations

The Ministry of Municipality, Qatar, has confirmed that it is continuing to enhance its readiness for the rainy season, with comprehensive measures in place to manage water accumulation and ensure public safety.

According to the Ministry, its water drainage fleet is operating at full capacity, actively working across different areas to prevent flooding and maintain smooth traffic flow. Municipal teams are also conducting continuous monitoring through the Unified Call Center operations room, allowing for real-time response to weather-related issues.

Authorities highlighted that close coordination is ongoing with the Qatar Meteorology Department, Ashghal, and other relevant entities. This collaborative approach ensures that any reports from the public are addressed swiftly and efficiently.

The Ministry emphasized that rapid response teams are deployed to handle water accumulation immediately, particularly in low-lying areas and key road networks. These efforts are aimed at minimizing disruptions, preventing traffic congestion, and enhancing overall safety during periods of rainfall.

Residents have been encouraged to report any waterlogging or drainage issues through official channels, enabling authorities to act quickly and effectively.

The initiative reflects Qatar’s proactive approach to weather management, combining advanced planning, inter-agency coordination, and continuous monitoring to maintain infrastructure resilience and ensure the smooth functioning of daily life across Doha and beyond.
