Qatar Airways Launches Flights to Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea Luxury Destination

Dubai – UAE residents now have easier access to Saudi Arabia’s premier luxury tourism destination, The Red Sea, with Qatar Airways launching a new route connecting Doha to Red Sea International Airport (RSI). Beginning October 21, flights will operate three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays with a flight time of just 2.5 hours.

For travellers from the UAE, the route offers a quick and convenient connection via Hamad International Airport in Doha, opening the door to a luxury destination centered around wellness, adventure, and unspoiled nature.

The Red Sea region is a cornerstone of Saudi Arabia’s sustainable tourism ambitions. It features over 90 untouched islands, rugged canyons, and one of the world’s largest barrier reef systems. Five luxury resorts are currently open, with more developments underway including several high-end properties on the upcoming Shura Island.

John Pagano, CEO of Red Sea Global, described the new air link as “a significant step in positioning The Red Sea as a premier luxury destination.”

Red Sea International Airport began receiving international passengers in April 2024, starting with bi-weekly flights from Dubai. Though currently partially operational, the airport is set to expand rapidly, with plans to handle over one million passengers annually by 2030, supporting the Kingdom’s ambitious Vision 2030 tourism goals.

This new Qatar Airways route also marks The Red Sea as the 12th Saudi destination in the airline’s growing network, further cementing its role in connecting travelers to transformative experiences across the Middle East.
