Lakshya Lalwani: From TV’s Warrior to Bollywood’s Rising Star

Laksh Lalwani, known mononymously as Lakshya, is quickly becoming one of the most exciting new talents in Indian cinema. Born on 19 April 1996, the Delhi-born actor made his mark early in Indian television before stepping into the Bollywood spotlight with Dharma Productions’ high-octane action film Kill (2023).

Lakshya's journey began with a quiet television debut in Warrior High (2015). While it flew under the radar, his persistence saw him take on roles in Adhuri Kahaani Hamari (2015–2016) and Pardes Mein Hai Meraa Dil (2016–2017), where his performance as Veer Mehra gave him his first taste of recognition. However, it was his powerful portrayal of Porus in the historical series Porus (2017–2018) reportedly India's most expensive television series that made him a household name.

The transition to film, however, was far from smooth. Despite signing a three-film deal with Dharma Productions in 2019, Lakshya’s cinematic debut was delayed due to multiple setbacks. His initial launch vehicle Dostana 2 was shelved following production delays and internal conflicts. Another project, Bedhadak, also failed to materialize.

After years of anticipation, Lakshya finally burst onto the big screen in Kill, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2023 and received widespread acclaim upon its theatrical release in 2024. Playing Amrit, a fearless army commando who single-handedly battles dacoits on a train, Lakshya stunned audiences and critics alike. Barry Hertz of The Globe and Mail praised his performance, stating he “conjures the hero with frightening ferocity.”He later starred in Netflix’s controversial yet critically acclaimed satirical series The Ba*ds of Bollywood**, directed by Aryan Khan, which further cemented his versatility and growing stature as a screen performer.

Looking ahead, Lakshya is set to appear opposite Ananya Panday in Vivek Soni’s romantic drama Chand Mera Dil, signaling a new phase in his flourishing career.

From historical epics to gritty thrillers and satire, Lakshya's ascent has been anything but conventional. With charm, talent, and undeniable screen presence, he’s quickly proving to be Bollywood’s next breakout star.
