Bahrain PDPA Bans Drivers from Taking Photos of Customer IDs

Manama, Bahrain – Bahrain’s Personal Data Protection Authority (PDPA) has announced new rules for delivery and courier services regarding customer identification. Drivers are no longer allowed to take photos of customers’ ID cards using their personal phones.
Under the new guidelines, delivery personnel can only verify IDs on-site without storing images or capturing personal data digitally. The move aims to strengthen privacy protections and ensure sensitive personal information is handled securely.
The PDPA has emphasized that businesses must adopt compliant verification methods and train staff to respect these rules, reinforcing Bahrain’s commitment to data privacy and customer protection.
