Azerbaijan to Establish Embassy in Bahrain: Milli Majlis Committee to Review Draft Law

The Republic of Azerbaijan is set to deepen its presence in the Gulf with the establishment of a dedicated embassy in the Kingdom of Bahrain. This development is now on the agenda for the International Relations and Interparliamentary Relations Committee of Azerbaijan's National Assembly (Milli Majlis), which is scheduled to convene on September 10, 2025. At the heart of the discussion lies the draft law titled “On the Establishment of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Kingdom of Bahrain (Manama City).”

This marks a meaningful stride in Azerbaijan’s diplomatic outreach. Since the two countries first formalized ties in 1996, relations have been steady, underpinned by regional cooperation and shared cultural values. Establishing a resident embassy in Manama will substantially elevate bilateral engagement and support the growing scope of collaboration.

Beyond symbolic significance, the embassy would bring tangible benefits. Azerbaijani citizens in Bahrain will gain access to vital consular services such as visa issuance, passport renewals, and legal assistance streamlining what is currently a more complex process

Diplomatically, Bahrain presents a fertile ground for expanding trade, investment, and cultural ties. The embassy could serve as a gateway to encourage Bahraini business interest in Azerbaijan's economic sectors from energy and agriculture to tourism and fintech while simultaneously promoting Azerbaijani exports in the Gulf

In short, this move underscores Azerbaijan's intent to build deeper partnerships in the Gulf. As the committee meets on September 10, all eyes will be on the outcome and the diplomatic windfalls that could follow.
