Twilight” Teases Big Return: Film Re-Releases and Animated Series in the Works

It was a normal August day for Twilight fans until the franchise’s official Instagram account dropped a cryptic bombshell. With a dramatic tagline, “Forever Begins Again,” and a teaser image of Bella, Edward, and Jacob, the post hinted at something stirring behind the scenes. Fans immediately speculated about a potential new movie, reboot, or sequel featuring the original cast. As it turns out, while a brand-new film is not on the horizon, the announcement wasn’t without cause for excitement.
Lionsgate, in collaboration with Fathom Events, confirmed that The Twilight Saga will return to theaters in October 2025 in celebration of the 20th anniversary of Stephenie Meyer’s first novel. The re-release will feature all five films, along with behind-the-scenes extras, special edition merchandise, live-to-film concert screenings in over 60 cities, and even revamped soundtracks. The cinematic marathon will run from October 29 to November 2, providing longtime fans and a new generation the chance to experience the supernatural romance on the big screen once again.
But the real bite of the announcement lies in what’s to come. Lionsgate has also confirmed that an animated series adaptation of Midnight Sun Meyer’s 2020 retelling of the original Twilight from Edward Cullen’s perspective is currently in development. This project is being created in partnership with Netflix, with showrunner Sinead Daly attached and Stephenie Meyer actively involved. While no release date has been set yet, the series is expected to breathe new life into the franchise with a fresh visual style and a deeper dive into the vampire’s mind.
Though Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner are not involved in any upcoming projects at this time, Lionsgate has stated they remain open to expanding the Twilight universe further if Meyer wishes to continue the story. In the meantime, the October re-release is shaping up to be a major nostalgic event, and the animated series promises to reawaken fan interest with a new perspective on the familiar tale of eternal love, danger, and destiny.
