Qatar intercepts 13 ballistic missiles and multiple drones launched from Iran
Qatar announced that it was subjected to a missile and drone attack on Monday evening, according to the Qatar Ministry of Defense.
In a statement, the ministry said the attack involved 14 ballistic missiles and several drones launched from Iran targeting Qatari territory.
The Qatar Armed Forces successfully intercepted all incoming drones and 13 of the ballistic missiles, preventing them from reaching their intended targets.
Officials confirmed that one missile landed in an uninhabited area, but it did not cause any casualties or damage.
Authorities said the interception was carried out using Qatar’s integrated air defense systems, which are designed to protect the country’s airspace, infrastructure, and population. Similar interceptions have been reported in recent days as tensions in the region continue to escalate.
The Ministry of Defense emphasized that the country’s armed forces remain fully prepared to respond to any threats and are continuing to monitor the situation closely to ensure the safety of citizens, residents, and vital facilities.
The incident comes amid heightened tensions across the Middle East, with several Gulf states reporting missile and drone attacks and increasing air defense activity in recent weeks.
