Rain Blesses Makkah During Maghrib Prayer, Creating a Spiritually Striking Scene

Makkah, August 29, 2025 As the call to Maghrib prayer echoed through the heart of Makkah on Friday, Umrah pilgrims gathered in reverence only to be met by a rare and symbolic blessing: a downpour of rain falling over the sacred plaza of the Grand Mosque.
Led by Sheikh Maher Al Muaiqly, worshippers continued their prayers undeterred, creating a moment that many described as both a test of devotion and a heavenly gift. The scene, which quickly went viral, was captured in a stunning video shared by Haramain on X (formerly Twitter), showcasing the serene beauty of worshippers praying through the rainfall.
In the video, pilgrims could be seen adapting with grace some using scarves, prayer mats, or umbrellas for cover, while others embraced the rain as they stood, bowed, and prostrated before the Kaaba. The rhythmic sound of falling rain, mingled with the voices of prayer, added an ethereal quality to the sacred moment.
Despite the sudden weather shift, the atmosphere around the Kaaba remained peaceful, orderly, and filled with spiritual intensity
In light of the changing weather, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) in Saudi Arabia issued a yellow alert for the Makkah region on Saturday, warning of moderate rainfall, strong winds, and reduced visibility. Authorities have urged both residents and visiting pilgrims to exercise caution, especially when outdoors or commuting near the Grand Mosque.
Rainfall in Makkah, while infrequent, is often regarded as a sign of mercy and divine blessing in Islamic tradition. Many pilgrims view such moments as deeply symbolic, making their experience even more memorable.
