Love in Vietnam Makes History: First Indian Film to Secure 10,000 Screens in China Pre-India Release

In a game-changing milestone for Indian cinema, Love in Vietnam becomes the first-ever Indian film to lock down a massive theatrical release in China across 10,000 screens before premiering in India. Presented by Zee Studios and directed by the acclaimed Rahat Shah Kazmi, the Indo-Vietnamese romantic drama is set to hit Indian theatres on 12th September 2025, while its China release is locked for Christmas 2025.

The announcement has created a wave of excitement in both Bollywood and international film circuits. The film features popular Indian stars Shantanu Maheshwari and Avneet Kaur, bringing to life a touching cross-cultural love story, inspired by the international bestseller Madonna in a Fur Coat.

What makes this achievement remarkable is the film’s global-first approach bypassing the usual release formula and targeting China’s colossal market right off the bat. In a move reminiscent of Hollywood strategies, Love in Vietnam signals that Indian films are now global contenders in their own right.

The film also recently made headlines after its world premiere at the Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF) in Vietnam, where it received a warm reception and set the stage for an ambitious international rollout.

This marks a significant leap for the Indian film industry into the Chinese market traditionally a challenging domain to penetrate. Only a handful of Bollywood films like Dangal, Secret Superstar, and 12th Fail have tasted success in China, and all of them were released after proving themselves domestically.

With Love in Vietnam, the strategy is different: pre-domestic release traction, emotional storytelling, and cultural authenticity are paving a new road for Indian films abroad.
