Flights remain suspended at Bahrain International Airport amid ongoing airspace closure

Flight operations at Bahrain International Airport remain temporarily suspended as of 6 March 2026 due to the continued closure of the Kingdom’s airspace, authorities confirmed.

The suspension follows a directive from Civil Aviation Affairs, which ordered the closure as a precautionary safety measure amid ongoing regional developments affecting air travel across the Gulf.

Airline operations affected

Gulf Air, Bahrain’s national carrier, has suspended all flight services until further notice. The airline said it will provide passengers with updated information once airspace restrictions are lifted and operations can safely resume.

Passengers affected by the cancellations have been offered flexible travel options. Gulf Air confirmed that travelers can rebook their flights free of charge for services scheduled through 10 March, with travel validity extended until 31 March 2026.

Authorities said the next official update on the status of airport operations is expected at 11:00 AM Bahrain time (08:00 UTC) on 7 March.

Regional airlines adjusting schedules

Several other airlines operating in the region have also adjusted their schedules due to the disruptions. Carriers including IndiGo, Air India, and SpiceJet have begun restoring limited Middle East operations, although many flights to and from Bahrain remain affected.

Airspace closures across parts of the region have forced airlines to cancel, delay, or reroute services while authorities prioritize safety.

Advice for travellers

Authorities are advising passengers not to travel to the airport until normal operations officially resume.

Travellers are encouraged to check their flight status directly through airline booking portals or official mobile applications before making any travel arrangements.

Real-time updates are also being shared through official social media channels operated by Bahrain Airport Company and Gulf Air.

Officials said the suspension will remain in place until the airspace is reopened and it is safe to resume regular flight operations.
