Bahrain MPs call for loan relief to support businesses hit by regional tensions

Members of Parliament in Bahrain have urged the government to introduce urgent financial measures to support businesses affected by recent regional tensions that have disrupted commercial activity across the Kingdom.

Lawmakers have formally called on the government to work closely with the Central Bank of Bahrain to temporarily suspend loan installments for companies facing financial strain. The proposed pause is intended to ease immediate cash flow pressures and provide breathing room for traders and small business owners grappling with operational setbacks.

According to MPs, several shop owners have reported losses due to damage, supply chain interruptions, reduced footfall, and delays in normal business operations. They argue that swift intervention is necessary to prevent further strain on the private sector and to protect jobs.

Parliamentarians stressed that temporary relief measures would help stabilize the market during this uncertain period, allowing affected enterprises to recover more quickly once conditions improve.

The proposal is part of broader discussions aimed at safeguarding economic stability and ensuring that support mechanisms are activated promptly to cushion the impact on local businesses and livelihoods.
