University of Bahrain Joins Global Elite with Debut in Times Higher Education Rankings

The University of Bahrain (UoB) has reached a historic milestone by entering the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings for the first time, marking a proud moment for the Kingdom’s academic and research community.
As the first national university from Bahrain to be included in the globally acclaimed rankings, UoB’s achievement reflects years of dedicated progress in education, innovation, and scientific research. The announcement, made in October 2025, highlights Bahrain’s growing reputation as a hub for quality higher education in the region.
The inclusion recognizes UoB’s excellence across THE’s core performance indicators—teaching, research, citations, international outlook, and industry income. These metrics position the university among respected institutions worldwide that are driving academic advancement and innovation.
The Ministry of Education expressed deep gratitude to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for their unwavering support in elevating Bahrain’s educational landscape. Officials also praised the UoB faculty, administration, and students for their collective effort in achieving this global recognition.
University officials described the ranking as just the beginning of a new chapter for Bahrain’s higher education sector, paving the way for greater international collaboration, academic partnerships, and research opportunities that will further enhance the nation’s knowledge economy.
