Salalah Airport Welcomes First Direct Flight from Belarusian Airline Belavia

Salalah — Salalah Airport has welcomed the first direct flight operated by Belarusian airline Belavia, marking the launch of a new air route connecting Salalah Airport with Minsk International Airport in Belarus.

The new service, operating once a week, comes as part of Oman Airports’ ongoing efforts to strengthen direct air links between the Sultanate of Oman and key tourist destinations in Eastern Europe.

Officials said the launch underscores the growing relations between Oman and Belarus, which have seen rapid progress in recent years particularly following the official visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to Belarus. The visit, they added, opened broader avenues for cooperation in economic, tourism, and investment sectors.

According to Oman Airports, the introduction of Belavia’s direct flight is a strategic addition to the Sultanate’s expanding air connectivity network. It also reinforces Dhofar Governorate’s reputation as a global tourism destination, especially during the Khareef season, which attracts a surge of international visitors drawn by the region’s unique climate and natural beauty.

Officials further noted that the collaboration reflects the growing interest of European airlines in expanding their operations to Oman, recognising the country’s diverse tourism offerings and untapped potential in the travel and hospitality sectors.
