Bahrain’s Legion of Vikings Strike Gold at Qatar’s 1st International Dragon Boat Tournament

Bahrain’s Legion of Vikings team delivered a standout performance at the recently concluded 1st International Dragon Boat Tournament in Qatar, securing an impressive medal haul that included two golds and one silver. The event, held from November 21 to 23, 2025 at the scenic Lusail Marina Promenade, marked Qatar’s first-ever international dragon boat competition, attracting elite teams from across the region and beyond.

Demonstrating exceptional teamwork and consistency, the Legion of Vikings dominated the mixed-category races. They clinched gold medals in both the Mixed 500m and Mixed 200m events, showcasing their speed, stamina and technical mastery on the water. The team added to their achievements with a silver medal in the Open 500m race, further cementing their reputation as one of the region’s strongest dragon boat contenders.

Organised by Dragon Boat Regatta Qatar (DBRQ), the tournament represented a major milestone in the sport’s development within the Gulf. The strong showing by Bahrain’s Legion of Vikings not only highlights their competitive prowess, but also reflects the growing prominence of dragon boat racing across the region as more Gulf nations invest in community sports and international participation.
