Oman’s Ministry of Social Development has announced a project to strengthen women’s associations and broaden the services they offer families and communities, Oman News Agency reported on 10 October.
The first phase, running during 2026–2027, targets three associations in Nizwa, Nakhal and Sur. Expansion to other wilayats is planned for later stages.
The initiative envisages family and community development centres within the participating associations. Ten programmes will cover six areas: women’s affairs, economic empowerment, social protection, dialogue between generations, psychological support, and childhood and youth development.
The intended beneficiaries include women and girls, families, children, older people, students, carers and education professionals. The ministry says the project supports Oman Vision 2040 by developing community institutions and making their programmes more responsive to local needs.
