Oman and the United Kingdom have announced education initiatives covering scholarships, classroom technology and professional skills, following Sultan Haitham bin Tarik’s state visit to Britain.

A joint statement published on 23 October welcomed the return of Chevening scholarships for Oman for the first time since 2021. It also highlighted a British Council pilot introducing artificial intelligence-assisted education in Omani schools.

The package includes new scholarships linking the Oman Net Zero Centre and Cardiff University, alongside closer cooperation on skills and professional qualifications.

The announcements formed part of a broader partnership agreed during the Sultan’s 20–22 October visit. Both countries identified education, innovation and connections between their institutions as areas for future cooperation.

The statement also outlined plans for closer collaboration in advanced technologies, including space, and stronger cultural and community links.

The announcement does not provide scholarship application dates, eligibility rules or school participation details. Prospective applicants should check the relevant programme providers for further information.
