The UAE and Saudi Arabia have signed a memorandum of understanding to explore stronger railway connections and cooperation on electricity infrastructure, Emirates News Agency reported on 8 October.
Signed in Riyadh, the agreement provides for technical and economic studies aimed at improving cross-border cargo transport, supply chains and regional connectivity.
It also covers technical, economic and environmental feasibility studies for electricity interconnection, including possible electricity exchange and sales, with coordination across GCC member states.
The announcement sets out a framework for cooperation and assessment. It does not announce an operational railway route, a passenger timetable or a project completion date.
