Kuwait’s Ministry of Health organised the Third Cardiometabolic Networking Symposium on 10 October, bringing healthcare specialists, researchers, policymakers and industry representatives together to exchange expertise.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the meeting focused on communication and collaboration around the prevention and management of cardiometabolic diseases.

In his keynote address, Dr Khaled Al-Mulla, head of the Sabah Al-Ahmad Cardiac Center at Al-Amiri Hospital, highlighted the burden associated with cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity, hypertension and metabolic disorders.

He said changing lifestyles and an ageing population create challenges for Kuwait and the wider Gulf. The symposium offered a setting for professional discussion; the report did not announce a new treatment, clinical trial result or public screening programme.
