Oman’s Ministry of Health has launched a year-long breast cancer awareness campaign, taking education and community activities beyond October’s annual awareness month to governorates across the country.

Called “Reassure Yourself,” the initiative is being led by the National Centre for Women and Child Health. The ministry’s announcement, published on 5 October 2026, said the launch took place on Sunday, 4 October, at the Wyndham Garden Hotel in Al Khuwair.

The programme will involve awareness sessions, educational activities and initiatives delivered with partners from different sectors. Its aims include addressing misconceptions about breast cancer, improving understanding of changes that warrant medical evaluation, and strengthening support from families and communities.

At the launch, participants reviewed the development of Oman’s early-detection programme and heard a personal account of recovery. Organisers also presented campaign materials and arrangements for documenting and evaluating activities across the governorates.

The ministry said the campaign would encourage access to early-detection services under the national programme’s approved age groups and criteria. It links the initiative to wider work on women’s health and the Eleventh Five-Year Health Plan for 2026–2030. The announcement describes an awareness campaign and does not set out a new screening schedule.
