A three-day conference in Riyadh is bringing disability research, rehabilitation and assistive technology into focus, with artificial intelligence among the areas being explored.
The seventh International Conference on Disability and Rehabilitation opened on 11 October 2026 and runs until 13 October at the InterContinental Riyadh. It is organised by the King Salman Center for Disability Research, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
Research and accessibility
The programme covers rehabilitation, accessibility and technologies intended to support people with disabilities. The opening also recognised winners of the King Salman International Award for Disability Research.
AI projects move towards judging
SPA reported that 159 teams qualified for a seven-week acceleration phase in an associated AI hackathon. Their projects are preparing for final judging.
The work remains at the development and assessment stage: the announcement does not establish that the proposed solutions are already available to users or delivering proven results.
