Oman’s Urban October gathering opened in Muscat on October 5 with new agreements and tender awards covering housing, community services and tourism developments.
Oman News Agency reported that the projects associated with the signed agreements carry a combined investment value exceeding OMR1 billion.
Among the plans are eight residential developments under the Sorouh programme, covering 2,443 homes across several governorates. Other announcements include construction tenders for a rehabilitation complex and elderly care building in Sultan Haitham City, alongside a school and health centre in Kumzar.
The four-day programme at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre also marks World Habitat Day, with discussions on adequate housing, accessible neighbourhoods and sustainable urban growth.
Organised by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning with UN-Habitat, the gathering continues until October 8. The announcements concern development commitments and awarded work, rather than completed homes or facilities.
