Abu Dhabi’s Department of Municipalities and Transport has announced plans to improve approximately 13 kilometres of roads along E30 and 8th Street in Musaffah, strengthening connections with Mohamed Bin Zayed City and Zayed City.
The plans, announced on 11 October 2026, aim to separate through traffic from journeys to local shops and amenities, easing congestion and improving safety.
What is planned
A free-flowing highway along 8th Street would have three lanes in each direction, with three additional access lanes on each side. DMT estimates that the street would accommodate 4,000 vehicles an hour.
The package also includes improvements to four E30 interchanges, changes at nine junctions and better connections with E20. Two road bridges between Musaffah and Mohamed Bin Zayed City, alongside a pedestrian bridge, are also planned.
Supporting everyday journeys
DMT says the works are intended to support commuters, local businesses and freight movements while preparing the network for future connections. These are announced plans, rather than completed improvements. The announcement does not give a completion date.
