Families and astronomy enthusiasts in AlUla can explore the night sky through a World Space Week programme running from 5 to 8 October 2026.
The AlUla Manara team, part of the Royal Commission for AlUla, is organising educational and cultural activities that connect space science with local knowledge and shared family experiences, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
The programme begins with an evening of stargazing. On 6 October, an activity will examine how earlier generations used stars to recognise seasonal changes. Children's crafts, storytelling and family stargazing follow on 7 and 8 October.
Licensed astronomy and tourism companies will also provide supervised experiences at different locations, including telescope observations of planets and stars.
AlUla's clear skies and natural surroundings are central to the programme. SPA reports that several local sites hold DarkSky International accreditation, recognising efforts to protect night skies and limit light pollution. The activities bring that setting into an accessible programme of learning and discovery.
